About Me

My formal name is Nicholas Hill.  You may call me Nick.

I've grown up in the rather small town of Munford, TN and was born in the nearby city of Memphis.  I graduated from Munford High School in May 2005.  I proceeded to attend Christian Brothers University for three semesters before transferring to Grinnell College in spring '07.  I am presently a rising senior there and plan to graduate in May 2009 with a B.A. in physics.  Thence, I will hopefully begin attending graduate school studying something at a university, both yet to be known to me.  I am presently spending my summer at Montana State University in their REU Solar Physics Program.  I tend to enjoy cycling, running and any endurance type sport.  In my free time, I've been known to read quite a bit and practice my bow-tie tying skills,

This summer, I am working with Dr. Jiong Qiu studying magnetic reconnection in solar flares and how the change in active regions prior to a flare contribute to the production of flux rope.  For a further brief overview, you may go here.
