June 25 to 27
I finished re-proccessing the other 4 flare events leftover from last week. I cleaned up the excel sheet, making sure to add notes on why I chose each specific parameter for every event. Then, on Tuesday morning, I met with Dr. Qiu. I made a powerpoint of my mini-presentation and showed it to Dr. Qiu when we met Tuesday. She gave me her magnetic reconnection presentation, a paper on Elongation of Two-Ribbon Flares, and a proposal to read to gain more knowledge on the motivations for this particular project. I wanted to learn more about this project's background since it was my turn to help lead the solar group meeting on Thursday. I also started working on the next phase of my main project which involves processing SDO - AIA imagery. It uses a lot of different IDL programs and I worked on getting familiar with it.
June 28 to 29
I started working on processing the SDO imagery. I ran into a problem with the code Dr. Qiu originally gave me and ended up finding Lilly's old code from last year and running that instead to read in all of the SDO files for each event. I also had trouble with the analyze_lilly_rec procedure and met with Dr. Qiu a few times to work on it. It finally started working! Now I can get the magnetograms for each of the events and hopefully finish it by the middle of next week.
Weekend
Courtney, Nicole, and I went to Music on Main Street on Thursday night and it was really fun! I was surprised there were so many people there and I definitely want to go again in the upcoming weeks.
On Friday, a bunch of us went to I-Ho's Korean Grill. It was pretty good! Saturday morning, Jada and I went to a fitness class and to brunch afterwards. We went to Main Street Overeasy. During the afternoon, Nicole, Courtney, Jada, and I went hiking. We briefly went to Sypes Canyon and then went to the peak of Drinking Horse Mountain trail. It was really pretty and nice. On Sunday, I had a quiet day and went on a walk along Peet's Hill.
