Introduction:
Montana State University-Bozeman is conveniently located only a 15 minute walk from downtown. The MSU
campus offers spectacular scenery, with views of the Spanish Peaks, Gallatin, Bridger, and Tobacco Root
Mountains. The Strand Union (with bookstore, restaurants, recreation center, copy service, lounges and many
other services) will serve as the base of operations for the Solar Physics Division of the AAS Annual Meeting. The
Renne Library, residence halls and athletic facilities are immediately at hand. The academic buildings offer
spacious modern classrooms, laboratories, art, film & television studios, theaters and auditoriums as well as
conference rooms to accommodate seminars.
Founded in 1893 as a land grant college, MSU offers bachelors' degrees in 48 fields covering 127 different
majors. Masters degrees are offered in 38 areas and doctorates in 15 disciplines. The Conference Services
Department provides year-round living and learning facilities for intensive educational programs. Students and
Professionals can meet and interact with others in their fields, sharing important new information and
technologies.
