Dissertation topic: What is the topology of magnetic reconnection in solar flares?

At Montana State University, I am a graduate research assistant in the Solar Physics Research Group.  I work under the guidance of Dr. Richard Canfield and Dr. Dana Longcope. Currently, I am working on my thesis project, 'What is the topological location of magnetic reconnection in solar flares?.' In this project, I use the magnetic topology given by a Magnetic Charge Topology Model (MCT) and RHESSI data to study the storage and release of energy in solar flares.
