TRACE observations from 13 June 1998 show a propagating disturbance, initiated near the origin of a C-class flare. This motion can be seen in both 195 AA (1.4 MK) and 171 AA (0.9 MK). The 195 AA movie reveals a strong wave front followed by a persistent dimming. The same wave in the 171 AA data shows motion (and in some cases oscillations) of larger loop structures, with the low-lying smaller-scale coronal features unaffected. Notice that the wave front is significantly more distinct in the 195 AA data. Similar disturbances have been observed by SoHO-EIT (called "EIT waves"), but this particular observation by TRACE in unprecedented, both because of its resolution (10x that of EIT) and its cadence (10x that of EIT).
