This July 11, 1998 image of a CME (195 Angstroms) was taken from the TRACE Image Gallery. The TRACE Glossary defines a CME as "a huge bubble of plasma that erupts from the Sun's corona and travels at high speed". TRACE stands for Transition Region and Coronal Explorer. It is a NASA mission to take high angular and temporal resolution images of the solar corona. For more information on MSU affiliation with TRACE, go to Charles Kankelborg's Homepage or Brian Handy's Homepage |
