This week I began looking at individual explosive events to analyze them more closely. I chose one of the complicated events (#46) from 2014-04-15 to start with. I found the median wavelength for every time and position point in the event, and created a surface plot to display the data. I then did the same thing, but used the value of the width between the first and third quartiles (Q3-Q1), as well as the mode of the profile. I had to work on getting rid of erroneous data points on the surface plots, as just one extremely high or low spike would ruin the scale of the plot. One way I did that was to set all the continuum points equal to zero so that noise would not interfere in the median.
