Day 31 Assignments

Here is a movie of the region Dr. Li and I will be looking at for the rest of the summer.

Step 0 Movie

Below are the line profiles for Mg II k and C II for each of the positions used in plotting yesterday's line profiles for Fe XXI and Si IV (also marked on the movie above). All of the lines are fitted with a single gaussian, although it is clear that this fitting does not fit all of the line profiles very well. Better methods will be explored in the coming days. For those lines profiles that do fit quite well with a single gaussian, I have plotted to their temporal evolutions as well, displayed after all of the line profiles.

This first set is for the 353 Y Position.

This second set is for the 317 Y Position.

Mg II k gaussian fitting   Mg II k gaussian fitting   C II gaussian fitting   C II gaussian fitting

Here is the temporal evolution for both Mg II k and C II for the 317 Y position. Certain times were selected for Mg II k, where its line profile was best fit by a single gaussian.

And this final set is for the 295 Y Position.

Mg II k gaussian fitting   Mg II k gaussian fitting   C II gaussian fitting   C II gaussian fitting

Here is the temporal evolution for C II at the 295 Y position for the times are which is was most consistently well fit by a single gaussian.
