KEITH
LAMBKIN
I was a solar physics REU student at Montana
State University in summer 2001, which is where this page originates
from. I am from Ireland (Dublin) so this was my first time to Montana.
The summer was all about working hard and playing harder as our REU
group
home page will prove.
I worked under Dr.
Richard C. Canfield. My project for the summer involved expanding a
computer program in IDL originally
written by Alexei
Pevtsov to study active regions on the sun and build up a database
of information (current, magnetic field, polarity, did they erupt, distance
between dipole centers, tilt angles etc.) on them. The future aim is that
this program can be used to predict the occurrence of coronal mass
ejections (CME's)
from the sun.
