Solar & Stellar Winds Seminar |
![]() |
We will study mostly very recent papers on solar wind observations by the Yohkoh, SOHO, and Ulysses spacecraft, reviews on stellar and pulsar winds, as well as more theoretical papers summarizing the conceptual advances that have arisen from recent observations, and papers describing the most advanced numerical models for the solar wind.
The goal is to develop a clear comprehensive picture of the current understanding of the solar wind, and identify those areas that require further research, either in theoretical concepts, numerical modelling, or observations. A further goal is to obtain an understanding of the applicability of the new results in solar wind research to stellar winds, and those from other objects.
Participants read one or two assigned papers in preparation of the weekly seminar, and each participant will lead the discussion in at least one such seminar. Questions and discussion items will be distributed with the reading assigments when appropriate. The class meets every Thursday at 2 pm in the Dayton Conference Room (EPS 258).
