Mime-Version: 1.0 To: Dr. Richard Canfield This is connection with the Max millennium Observing Plan 002, "Eruptive Flares Associated With Sigmoids during WSM3" whole sun month #from AUG 18 TO SEP 14. Kindly note the following participating members from Kodaikanal Observatory: K. Sundara Raman, K.B. Ramesh, R. Selvendran, P.S.M. Aleem and K.M. Hiremath and the same may kindly be put in the Web Site. The reply can be send to any one of the reporting members. Sky conditions at Kodaikanal are in general cloudy at present due to monsoon and may improve from December. "The active region located at N26 E38 on 17 Aug 99 is during its second rotation and has been monitored on its disk passage from 14 to 25 Aug.99. In white light, it appeared on the eastern limb on 14th Aug. 99 as a simple bipolar delta type group (having common penumbra) and steadily grown in size. Flux emergence within the existing group has taken place on 17th Aug 99 and a long S-shaped twisted filament appeared in Halpha. The filament structure remained to be present till 20 Aug. As the spot started decaying (reduction in size) on 20 Aug, a small brightening appeared near the filament. The cloudy conditions did not permit us to have continuous monitoring from 20 Aug. A very complex group which apeared at S22 E20 Aug 99 may be anohter candidate for such an event. There is no observaions from 21 Aug to 1 Sep 99 in Halpha where as white light photoheliograms taken at early morning hours (02.00 UT) are available." K. SUNDARA RAMAN.
