Subject: Re: High Cadence campaign Date: Thu, 9 May 2002 11:27:49 -0600 (MDT) From: "Alan L. Kiplinger" To: canfield@mithra.physics.montana.edu Hi Dick, I've been out of town since April 26th. I do want to observe with my high speed camera/polarimeter when good opportunities arise. I need to hire a summer student. My camera is the twin CID 3X3 arc minute fov system that I have had in Boulder for some time. However, it was modified to obtain linear polarization measurements both on band and -1.3A blue wing H-alpha. With a rotating half-wave plate, the plane of polarization rotates 180 degrees every 0.51 seconds. In about 30 seconds a sensivity of about 0.1% can be obtained. I am most interested in observing very active regions near the limb and not so interested in observing if the probability of observing flares is very low. I'll look back for your email questions. The telescope is the 18" cassegrain at Sommers Bausch Observatory - U. of Colorado. Regards, Alan K.
