From: William Marquette Date: September 23, 2011 9:59:54 AM MDT To: Richard Canfield Subject: MFW Notes MFW, 7/26 - 8/5   7/26, no notes   7/27, 1260 growing with bright H-alpha plage but didn't think it had the potential for a major    flare yet.   7/27, 1260 continued to develop resulting in a beta-gamma-delta magnetic configuration.  1260 was the source of an M1 event earlier in the day.   7/28, In hind sight, I should have switched to an MM#009 but I still would have stayed with 1260.   7/29, I missed the significant change in 1261.  It quickly developed an unusual nearly circular-shaped sunspot group which often results in increased activity.  I should have switched from 1260 to 1261 today.   7/30, 1261 maintaining its circular sunspot group.   7/31, 1261 still bright in H-alpha   8/01, Both 1261 and 1263 good choices for a MFW - stayed with 1261 because it had tighter magnetic gradients and brighter H-alpha plage.   8/02, 1261 mostly unchanged.   8/03, 1261 maintaining bright H-alpha plage.   8/04, 1263 now looks like a better target but stayed with 1261 because of its flare producing history.   8/05, Switched to 1263 as the default target the next day. I thought that 1263 could produce an M-class event in the next few days
