The Day the Solar Wind (Almost) Disappeared
Monday, December 13, 11:00 AM.
The day was May 11 this year, and data suggest that the solar wind dropped to almost zero. This was accompanied by a rare auroral phenomenon, in which Earths entire polar cap, not just a ring, glowed. The event has been described as a window to the coronas electrons.
