Hot soft X-ray three-part CMEs

The following page contains images of two events observed in soft X-rays by Yohkoh SX. These both resonate with the 3-part harmony; neither is yet published and so the analysis we have (courtesy D. McKenzie, whose home page doesn't have such good background art) is what you see.

The 29-May-1999 structure, in still images. The frames below show the appearance at 03:09:24 UT, the right-hand frame is annotated to guide the eye to the outer bubble and the core. The grid lines are heliographic latitude and longitude, and show the position of the flare on the Sun (in this case, near the southeast limb).

A movie of this eruption in X-rays. The apparent speed of the outer bubble is approximately 580 km/sec (plane of sky).

The grid lines are heliographic latitude and longitude, and show the position of the flare on the Sun (in this case, near the northeast limb).
