This week I continued the detections process through February 2005. I am now working through the data from days in the declining part of the solar cycle, so the process is getting easier and requires less of my intervention. The graph below shows the (smoothed) magnetic flux in active regions over the years included in the MDI dataset for both the northern and southern hemispheres of the Sun. My current progress as of Friday is marked on the graph. This shows that the data I have left to go through is much less busy than the data for which I just completed detections.
