This week I submitted an abstract and application for funds to the Living With a Star Science Meeting in Portland, Oregon this November. I also continued the detections process. On Wednesday, I completed the process! My last active region was detected on April 11, 2011. On Thursday I then combined the resulting files to create the final active regions catalog, which Andrés and I then started to analyze. This completed catalog includes all active regions on the Sun that we detected in SOHO/MDI magnetograms from 1996 through 2011.
There were also lectures on ethics in science (Piet Martens) and looking towards graduate school (DesJardins).
Below is a large movie file that I made to show the entirety of the active region detections for the year 2000. This was one of the busiest years for which I had to perform detections.
