REPORT: Now that I had the full disk images the next step was to prepare for comparison or cross-calibration with UARS/SOLSTICE data. The main reason we are comparing with SOLSTICE is that it was the only instrument taking irradiance data at the time and it is also considered to have more reliable measurements. Cross-calibration refers to assign physical units to data - here SOHO data units are W/m^2/str/Angstroms and SOLSTICE data units are W/m^2/nm. Below are the steps taken to convert the SUMER data in radiance units to irradiance units (so we can compare to SOLSTICE data).
