CME detection module
The module builds on current efforts to establish a new automated multi-scale CME detection and tracking algorithm. The Normalising Radial-Graded Filter (NRGF) is applied to images to remove the steep gradient in coronal brightness, while a deconvolution of dynamic and quiescent structures separates the background intensity level. The multi-scale decomposition results in a number of scales upon which the image can be automatically inspected for curvilinear features. Thus a detection mask is generated to isolate the CME structure, and a sequence of observations then reveals the changing CME kinematics and morphology.
