Venue,
Conference Hotel and Travel Information
The meeting will be held in the seaside town of
Goa, situated on the western coast of India and well-connected by flights to
Mumbai (Bombay) and Delhi – which are major hubs for international flights. During
winter, direct flights to Goa may also be available from some European cities.
Major Indian cities such as Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata also offer direct
flight services to Goa.
NOTE:
Visa is required for ALL non-Indian citizens. During the registration process
you will be required to submit certain information which is required for
issuing you an invitation letter in support of your visa application. Please
check with your nearest Indian consulate for procedures for applying for a
visa. If you have not received an invitation letter through email by 26th
November, 2010, contact the organizers immediately (space-climate AT gmail DOT com, remove the dash between space and climate
and all spaces). Hardcopy letters will follow soon through courier.
The venue for the symposium is Neelams the Grand
Hotel, Goa – where reduced contractual rates are available for the meeting
participants. The hotel offers AC rooms, swimming pool, health facilities,
on-site restaurant, recreation and conference facilities. Wi-Fi access will be
available at the conference venue. All social events associated with the
symposium will be held in this hotel. Note that a specific number of rooms are
being held under this contractual rate. After the rooms at the conference hotel
are filled up, references to alternate accommodation possibilities will be
listed here, but participants will have to make their own bookings. During the
registration process, you have the option to decline the conference hotel
accommodation and reserve your own hotel. However, please be advised that Goa
is an expensive place in the winter and most hotels sell out well in advance.
The choice of the above conference hotel has been based on a number of
organizational factors, including our philosophy of making this conference
affordable to scientists from diverse economic zones without compromising on
the quality of service and accommodation. Note that the conference will start
on 16th January, 2011 evening with an opening ceremony, plenary talk
and reception. So ideally you should plan to arrive by 16th January
afternoon to give yourself time to get over the jet-lag and gently slip into
conference mode. Typically this means that travelers from USA should initiate
their journeys on 14thJanuary (evening) and travelers from
Europe/Asia should initiate their journeys on 15th January.
