An elementary guide to the Auroras (both Borealis and Australis) in the form of a picture book. The story
is concluded with a collection of "Aurora Facts."
Light from the Sun Card Game
A board game activity designed to teach about the origins of light from the sun.
Living with a Star
A Comprehensive guide to NASA and other resources for information on the Sun-Earth Connection.
Included are exercises teaching students how to safely observe the sun via projection, draw sunspots,
and viewing solar eclipses.
Radiation Hazards in Space
Students will learn about the types and hazards of radiation in space and how it affects space travel, via a board game.
Sun Activities
A collection of fun solar-based activities in which students learn how scientists study the sun.
Sun Coloring Book
A coloring book based around the Sun and interspersed with facts about the Sun.
Our Star-The Sun (Sun Images)
A detailed fact sheet about the Sun. No exercises.
Tracking Sunspots
A detailed exercise focused around tracking and predicting sunspots. Sunspot data is
accessed via supplied SOHO images. In addition, students learn about sunspots and the SOHO mission.
Layers of the Sun
Students learn about the various layers of the Sun and their functions through class discussion,
followed up by an exercise in which students construct a clay model of the Sun by layering different
colors of clay over one another, after which the teacher cuts a cross-section of the model, thereby
providing a more visceral understanding of the Sun's layering.
