Delta, Delta, and Delta! The Sun has officially reached the Solar Maximum in the mid October, 2024, according to NOAA and NASA (https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/14683). The current solar cycle 25 started in December 2019, and the first activie region of December 2019 was NOAA 12753(see these NOAA reports: link to noaa_srs_2019.txt), it turns out that more than 1100 active regions have been born and passed in the current solar cycle. Compared with other phases of solar cycle, we now see more number of sunspots daily, and those sunspots tend to be larger and have more complex magnetic configuration. On 11/8, there are 3 active regions (NOAA 13883, 13886 and 13889) are reported to have the most evolved stage of sunspot magnetic field configuration, called a 'delta-type' (see the NOAA report: link to noaa_srs_20241108.txt).
