 1. Solar Activity-------------------------------------------------------------

     Solar activity was low again this week, with activity reaching above
     C level on 2 occasions.

 2. Standard Operations--------------------------------------------------------

  2.1 SXT Table Uploads

  2.2 STT Timer Set
      STT timer was set on January 3.

 3. Errors and Problems--------------------------------------------------------

  3.1 BCS error
      BCS MEM CHK SUM error was discovered in pass 1 on 4-Jan (950103-1341)
      and was recovered the next day in pass 3, 5-Jan (950104-1445).

  3.2 SXT bitmap errors
      SXT bitmap error was discovered on 950105-1239, and was recovered in
      the same pass.

      SXT bitmap error was also discovered in pass 950106-1156 and recovered
      in the next pass.

  3.3 Computer Problems at KSC
      KSC had many computer problems this week - just before pass 2 on
      6-Jan-95 (950105-1342), S3500 was down. SXT table upload which was
      due for pass 2 was stopped. In pass 4 of the same day A400 was also
      down, so the data could not be downloaded. In pass 5 the backup
      system for A400 was started up. Fujitsu say that the problem with
      S3500 lies in the CPU board... S3500 was not fixed on Friday, and
      hence the status of SXT errors could not be determined. The SXT
      extra support was provided at ISAS by N.Nitta. S3500 was fixed on
      Saturday.

  3.4 Flare11/RASM problem
      The content of the RASM file has been partly changed, and caused us
      a few problems with the rd_rasm routine which is called by op_first_guess.
      Jim Lemen came to the rescue, and fixed the problem for us (thanks).
      Also, there was a problem related to flare11 (it would be so nice
      if this was swapped with a newer machine!) - the error appeared to
      be due to flare11 not recognising the device (?)(/dev/tty).

  3.5 SXT table problems
      In pass 950104-1342, the SXT table was uploaded, and the check was not
      done between the ground table and satellite table before SXT CTL AUT
      command was given. There were no after-effects....

  3.6 Sirius problems
      There was a problem (maybe!) in the software used to produce the temporary
      Sirius database hence the data was not available. Kato-san is checking
      the problem...

 4. DSN communications---------------------------------------------------------

      The final (week 02), preliminary (week 03) and strawman (week 04)
      all arrived on Friday 6-Jan.

 5. Yohkoh/Asca Conflicts------------------------------------------------------

      The were 3 KSC conflicts this week - on Wed, 2 passes were lost
      and Thursday 1 pass was lost...

 6. Holiday Schedule-----------------------------------------------------------

      The next holiday will be on 15th Jan.
