Final Throes of AR7978

Death throes of AR7978, as seen by Yohkoh photometry (AlMg filter)
during its sudden disappearance on 15 July. The difference image
shows that the sudden decrease (factor of two) occurred in low-lying
loops, rather than in the higher corona. This probably means that
the decrease in brightness was an occultation induced by solar
rotation at a relatively small over-the-limb angle.
