Yohkoh10 Meeting Events
Meeting Locale
The meeting will be held at the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, Kona, HI. All participants are encouraged to reserve rooms and stay at the meeting hotel.
Meeting Science
The Science Program will consist of 45 minute invited
reviews, 15 minute contributed papers, and 4'x4' (122cm x 122cm) poster presentations.
All oral sessions will be in sequence, and the posters will be up for the entire meeting. Each conference participant is restricted to first authorship on only one presented poster or oral presentation. An overhead
projector, slide projector, microphone and LCD unit will be provided for the use
of the oral presenters.
Observatory Tours
Tours of the Mauna Kea or Mauna Loa observatories will be offered on the
afternoon of September 19 for an additional cost of
$110 per person, collected before departure.
A special buffet lunch for tour participants will be served at the hotel, including
bottled water to bring along, which may help prevent altitude sickness.
Tour guests are advised to bring or wear warm clothing, as the mountain top
weather is frequently cold and unpredictable. At 1:00 pm the tour guests
will board the vans to depart for the Keck and Subaru at Mauna Kea or the
HAO coronagraph station at Mauna Loa, as reserved.
For both tours there will be time to enjoy the unique environment of the
tropical high-altitude volcanoes and the superb views. Japanese speaking
guides will accompany the vans as needed. We estimate that the vans will
return to the meeting hotel by 7:00 pm on the 19th.
Contact Jana Halvorson (jana@mcn.net) for tour reservations before September 10.
