Yohkoh10 Meeting Press Page

Press Releases

There have been several press releases in honor of Yohkoh's tenth anniversary, and a list of links and images has been prepared for the use of the media.

General Information

The press will be welcome. Press releases for the Yohkoh 10th anniversary are being prepared by ISAS, NASA, and PPARC (UK). There are lots of things to do at the meeting that you might find interesting, in addition to the science talks:
    - Monday has an entire session devoted to Education and Public Outreach.
    - The poster sessions will include new handouts and displays of Public Outreach materials.
    - Monday night there is a town meeting devoted to making plans for future NASA solar high energy missions.
    - The Luau, on Tuesday night, will give the press a chance to mingle with the scientists from more than a dozen different countries.
    - Wednesday afternoon there will be tours of some of the major Hawaii observatories (Keck, and Subaru or Mauna Loa) hosted by professional astronomers.
    - The conference summary talk, on Thursday afternoon, by Prof. Saku Tsuneta, of the National Observatory of Japan, will present an "Overview of 10 Years of Yohkoh Results and Science Challenges for the Current Decade."
    - Friday there is a one day preparation meeting for Solar-B, the approved Japanese follow-up for Yohkoh, again with participation from the US and the UK.

Costs

We will waive the full registration fee for press, but we do need a $80 guest registration, to defray the costs of the reception, Luau, lunches, and coffee breaks. The observatory tour cost can't be waived, but will only be about $110 per person.
