TRACE H I Lyman Alpha Calibration
- Raw 1216 image:
- Raw 1600 image:
- "Calibrated" Lyman Alpha image:
- A VAULT 1216 image from the same epoch:

Notes:
- TRACE images are a subset from the full TRACE FOV, cropped to get the
interesting stuff and to more or less agree with the approximate VAULT
FOV.
- Intensity scaling varies from image to image, all are tuned to show the
contrast. Scaling is linear. I attempted to get the calibrated lya image
to the same scaling as the VAULT image for a morphological comparison.
- These images are from the period of the VAULT flight, 7-May-1999 19:50
to 19:59. I do not know when the VAULT image was taken during that
time frame. I can see a handful of differences between my images
and the VAULT that suggests there's a little difference in time..
- Note that the calibration for this image is not yet
understood, nor is the plate scale. VAULT optimistically
suggests 0.3 arcsec resolution.
- tr_get_disp.pro had a miserable time trying to align these
images. The results I got were very disappointing until I did the
alignment by hand.
- You can see loops in the Lyman Alpha images! They are
not present (or at least not obviously so) in the 1600 images. I think
this is neat!
