Solar activity is at a moderate level. NOAA 11417 has rotated onto the east limb and is the return of former NOAA 11407. Active region 11416 has undergone a period of rapid growth and is now classified as a beta-gamma region. However, today's target will be the region about to rotate on the NE limb. This is former NOAA 11401/11402 which produced multiple large M-class flares during its last passage. This region has already produced at least three C class flares, all of which are occulted. Therefore, it is expected that activity will continue at the C class level and may even rise to M class levels.
