When Sunspots Erupt

GRAPH shows the distribution of active solar regions in 1993 and 1997 (combined) in three ranges of sunspot area. The data indicate that sigmoids in all size categories are eruptive and that the number of non-eruptive sigmoids is usually small, but even in the smallest size category, at least twice as many show eruptive signatures as don't.
