[Sarah L. Jones]

Sarah L. Jones

My name is Sarah Jones and I'm an undergraduate physics major from Dartmouth College. Since Dartmouth College has housing problems, students are required to take classes during the summer term after their sophomore year. And so, fall term has now become my "summer vacation." For the past nine weeks, I have been working a REU Internship at Montana State University. I'm working with Dr. Robert Leamon, following up on Brian Lundberg's work of modeling magnetic clouds with WIND satellite data.

Hats off to Brian Lundberg!! who not only learned to program in IDL but also, with the help of Bob Leamon, wrote the program to model interplanetary magnetic clouds during his summer REU intenship. Please check out my REU presentation for a brief summary of Brian's program and the mathematical model behind it and an explanation of the work I have done. For a more in depth look at the program and the underlying mathematics, follow the link to Brian's website.
