Our
next stop is the Caribbean Coast: A place of blue ocean
and white sands. This is the region where the greatest amount
of
mixing of the three races occurred; it is a fertile region where
important
native Colombian tribes lived, were African people were
brought to work on the
fields and
a region that was of great
economic importance for the Spanish, since all the gold and silver
brought from
Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia was sailed to Europe using its ports. This
region is
also home of the
most international of Colombian rhythms: The Cumbia and the Vallenato.
