Progress Report: Week 3-4

What I Worked on This Week

In weeks 3 and 4, I began observing! We have a process for observing now, which includes putting a filter on the camera and lens, taking three images, put the cap back on, take a dark, put on a new filter, and repeat. Observing Methods: 1. Connect FLIR camera to 300 mm lens to a filter 2. Put the setup on the tripod 3. Find Moon 4. If you cannot find the moon manually, you can click the little camera icon at the top of matlab to open the camera view and press continuous to see a live feed 5. Once the moon is found take 3 images in broadband at the appropriate gain and exposure time settings then put the lens cap back on 6. Take a photo at the same gain and exposure settings with the cap on (this is a dark) 7. Then put on a filter and repeat the same process with the filter on 8. Take the filter off and put the cap back on and take a dark 9. Repeat this with all the filters!

I have really been enjoying my time here! I have gone on a couple of hikes and explored downtown and made some good friends.

Some example images of processed DoLP moon images are below:
