1. CHANGES IN THE MAX MILLENNIUM CHIEF OBSERVER TEAM

The volunteer team of scientists who collectively serve as the Max
Millennium Chief Observer keep abreast of solar activity on a daily
basis. They work together to select the most appropriate observing
targets and observing plans, using their expertise at solar activity
forecasting. They send out their recommendations to several hundred
solar scientists via the Max Millennium Message of the Day e-mail
list.
Paul Higgins (Trinity College Dublin / LMSAL) has been a valuable
member of the Max Millennium Chief Observer team for the last two
years. Paul joined the team in March 2013, building on his PhD studies
of the relationship between dynamic sunspot group properties and the
occurrence of flares. He sent out his last Message of the Day on
January 11th. We will miss his knowledgeable and proactive approach
to flare forecasting. Many thanks, Paul, for a job well done.
Ying Li (Nanjing University / Montana State University) will join the
MM_CO team in March. She finished her PhD Thesis "Observations and
Modeling of Solar Flare Atmospheric Dynamics" in 2013. Her research
interests include heating and dynamics in solar flares: EUV & UV
spectroscopy, multi-wavelength data analysis, and theoretical
modeling. Welcome, Ying!
