Flare Loop Tracing
This third and fourth week covered 2 main goals, narrow done the array of lines to only those that represent flare loops, and create a code that traces the polarity inversion line. The polarity inversion line is the seperation between negative and positive magnetic field lines, and our mid point for the flare loop. This involved getting an HMI image and contouring out
One of the weekends, we got a chance to go to Yellowstone National Park, which was way more beautiful than I ever expected. My favorite part was the buffalo that interupted our otherwise peaceful picnic lunch.
On Friday of our fourth week, we gave a short presentation to the rest of the REU students and mentors.
