Dear Sirs We are a high school researc lab housed at Van Nuys High school in Los Angeles. One of our current projects is to monitor coronal activity via SOHO or SOHKOH. To do this we print out pictures twice a week and display them in the classroom for general viewing. Also we use the pictures to detect flares and prominences. Our primary job is to trace the path of solar charged particles on their way from the corona to the earth's upper atmosphere. WE use the ACE satellite data at L1 to tell us flux levels on the way and observe light levels in the Auroral oval to detect arrival in the earth's upper atmosphere. WE could use all the help we can get from Lockheed-Martin to fund our project. Could you please make some suggestions as to what we might do? Bob Coutts Research Methods instructor

Scary - I didn't know there *was* a YOHKOH satellite, and I care about this sort of stuff. I stumbled onto this site from the IDL "submitted images" page (after trying to recall why IDL was sending me e-mail...). Maybe you could get some airtime with a press release announcing that the Sun may not go nova in the next week, or something. (Unless you're sure it *will*? This solar site is set up quite conveniently. With its main pages focusing on specific topics, and providing just enough material to spark one's interest, enhanced by captivating visual affects, and also an option to satify one's further curiosity with direct links to much more detailed information, this site takes on an intreguing approach to learning. It is web sites like this that capture the very essance of the concept behind the information highway - interesting, informative and relevent.

I think that the site is rather informative but it gives you more knowledge about the sun

i realy enjoyed the pictures of the sun. I was trilled to see what the sun body looked like with out the ring of fire around it. I also learned about the sun crona but i don't understand why astronemers don't see how the crona is hotter than the inside of the sun i always thought the tip of fire was the hottest part. you realy need to have more sites like these. thanks

What age is this site geared towards? I felt a little insulted because we're supposed to visit this site for Physics 101. I already knew everything discussed in the tour from class.

I think this is a very fun and informative layout. Although it takes a while to load the images on our computers here at MSU it was neat to be able to access the images to see exactly what is going on with the Sun. I definitely felt that it was worth my time to go through this program!
