ABOUT

Things about me

My name is Heather Mei, and I am a rising senior at Tufts University in Boston, MA. Incidentally, I am also from Boston, MA. I study physics at Tufts. At school I'm involved in the Society of Physics Students (SPS) as the social media chair and outreach coordinator, as well as being a face for Ears for Peers, an anonymous peer crisis hotline. My research interests are in solar and astrophysics. In my spare time I like running, baking, and drinking lots of water.

RESEARCH

What I'm doing this summer

I am at a REU (research for undergraduates) program this summer located at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. I am working under Dr. Jiong Qiu on the time evolution of solar flare hard x-ray emissions and magnetic reconnection. I am using data collected from the spacecrafts RHESSI and SDO. I am currently collecting FITS images through the RHESSI GUI. A longer description of my project can be found here.
