RHESSI & Hinode/XRT Microflare Studies View all project descriptions by submitter

Iain Hannah Submitted: 04-Feb-2008 13:15

We are using RHESSI and Hinode/XRT to investigate the energetics and properties of microflares. RHESSI's imaging and spectroscopy capabilities allows the characteristics of the non-thermal energy and where it is deposited to be determined. Hinode/XRT then provides high sensitive and resolution images of the softer X-rays, showing the dynamic response of the thermal plasma. This has been done in detail for individual events (Hannah et al. 2008 A&A in press) and the plan is to statistically analyze a sample of events.

Participants: I.G. Hannah, S. Krucker, H.S. Hudson, R.P. Lin, E. DeLuca
