The variability of X-ray emissions View all project descriptions by submitter

Jingnan Guo Submitted: 02-Feb-2010 09:52

Our project focuses on the variability of X-ray emissions. In general, lower energy X-ray emissions vary more gradually than higher energy ones, and it is assumed that they are associated with the thermal and nonthermal components identified with spectroscopy, respectively. By calculating the time-derivative of photon light curves in different energy bands during hard X-ray pulses, we will study the energy dependence of the flux change rate and its time evolution. A lower (higher) rate is expected for the lower (higher) energy component, and the transition energy between the low and high rate components will be compared with the transition energy between the thermal and nonthermal components.
