Week 1
I started by meeting the other research group members and touring the campus. I met with Dr. Keiji Yoshimura to disscus future plans of the project, then I attended the IDL workshop. I began to read chapter 5 (The Magnetic Solar Atmosphere) in the Encyclopedia of the Sun textbook to get a better understanding of language going to be used in this REU. Once the weekend arrived the solar REU team went on a trip to the "M" which is a popular hiking trail at Bozeman and went on a hike. Below are two pictures, the fist one is at the start of the "M" trail looking up and the second is at the top of the "M" trail looking down toward the city.
