June 26-30

Accomplishments of the week: corrected colors in AIA/RHESSI overlays and started producing more .gifs. I'm now planning to switch to .mp4s for easier manipulation.

Tasks for the long weekend:

Correcting timesteps. There are two factors here. One is that I've realized that my AIA and RHESSI data cubes begin at different times, so I'm working on correcting that offset—that's a simple fix. The other issue is that AIA data changes on an interval of 24 seconds, while my RHESSI data varies considerably, from 4 seconds to over 100. I need to figure out if this is affecting the appearance of the movies I've produced, and if so, how to solve that issue. One way I'm already experimenting is by creating new data cubes with each energy band integrated over a time interval that's a multiple of 24—this will simplify the procedure needed to align the data.

20130812: This gif has not been corrected for timestep, but shows the kind of clear motion of the X-ray point source that we've been expecting.

20140510: This is one of the .gifs that's corrected for timestep in both respects!

On that note, however, another task: more frames at the start of animations. This will help track how the flare develops.

Start looking at light curves.

Have some results for midterm presentations!
