MAX MILLENNIUM OBSERVING PLAN TEMPLATE

TITLE

Give the Plan a scientifically meaningful title

AUTHORS

Identify the lead author (who will lead the plan definition, scheduling, target selection, and subsequent data analysis) and key participants from various GBOs and space missions. List names and e-mail addresses.

VERSION

Assign a version number and date to each unique written version of this plan that you distribute.

SUMMARY

Write a short paragraph summarising the unique aspects of this plan.

SCIENTIFIC GOALS

Write a short description of the goals that motivate this plan, for the benefit of scientists who will want to support the plan through observations at their observatory. What is unique about the goals?

GBO OBSERVING PROGRAM

On the basis of specific input from their planners, list each of the key GBOs, persons who are the point of contact, what their observations will do for the goals, and the specific observing/instrument setups they will run (e.g. Mees Solar Observatory: Barry LaBonte, vector magnetogram movies to document the evolution of electric currents as flux emerges, IVM setup DLM11)

SPACE MISSION OBSERVING PROGRAM

On the basis of specific input from their planners, list each of the key spacecraft/instruments, persons who are the point of contact, what their observations will do for the goals, and the specific observing program they will run, (e.g., SOHO EIT: Barbara Thompson, images and spectra in various EUV wavebands for multithermal structure of flares, as defined by SOHO JOP 98.)

TARGET

Define the unique properties of the target

* simple name (e.g. emerging flux region)

* defining properties of target (e.g. presence of arch filaments)

* target position (e.g. limb, disk center)

SCHEDULING CONSIDERATIONS

List specific scheduling considerations (i.e., schedule this plan during a specific VLA observing run, wait for a certain target of opportunity, etc.)
