Multi-wavelength analysis of two M-class flares on 2002 September 29 and 30 View all project descriptions by submitter

Two M-class flares on 2002 September 29 and 30 were simultaneously observed by RHESSI and by the ground-based imaging spectrograph at the Solar Tower of Nanjing University (China). We are performing a multi-wavelength analysis of the flares, which focuses on the spatial and temporal relationship between the Halpha emission, the white-light emission, and the hard X-ray emission. We plan to do non-LTE calculations of the flaring atmosphere in order to interpret the observed Halpha profiles and the enhanced white-light emission.
