MM#009 Default HESSI Target
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
NOAA 1884 was the source of a C1.0 event at 10/31/06:51 UT.
The largest x-ray event in the past 24 hours was a M1.9
at 10/31/13:51 UT - its source region was NOAA 1877 now
located just beyond the southwestern limb at S10.
1884 is maintaining an E-type/beta-gamma-delta sunspot group.
The delta configuration appears to be weakening. C-class events
probable with the chance of an isolated M-class event in the next
24 hours.
The position of NOAA 1884 on October 31 at 14:00 UT is:
S11E16 (Solar X = -262", Solar Y = -255")

MM#009 Default HESSI Target
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar flare activity has been at a low level since the X2
event produced by default target region NOAA 1875 yesterday.
The background x-ray flux is currently flat at the B5 level.
1875 has completed west limb passage. The new target
is NOAA 1884. 1884 is currently classified as an E-type
region with a beta-gamma-delta magnetic configuration.
C-class events are possible with the chance of an isolated
M-class event in the next 24 hours.
The position of NOAA 1884 on October 30 at 20:30 UT is:
S13E26 (Solar X = -414", Solar Y = -284")

Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
The current solar activity level is high. Today's target region
(NOAA 11875) has just released a limb-occulted X2.3 flare
on 29-oct-2013 at 21:54 UT. A major flare watch is now in
effect. A further >M5 flares are likely and a further X-class
flare is possible.

MM#009 Default HESSI Target
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar flare activity is currently at a moderate level.
The most active region was NOAA 1875 now located on the
northwestern limb. 1875 was the source of numerous
C-class events and an M1.5 at 10/28/20:57 UT. Target region
NOAA 1882 (S08E10) is now in decay phase displaying a much weaker magnetic
delta. We will switch to NOAA 1875 today. NOAA 1877 (S12E67) has emerging
flux and will likely be chosen
for the target region tomorrow. 1875, 1877, and 1882 are capable
of producing C-class events with the chance of an isolated
M-class event in the next 24 hour period.

MM#003 Major Flare Watch
Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar flare activity continues at a high level. NOAA 1875
(N07W74) was the most active region in the past 24 hours
producing 2 major flares (X1 event at 10/28/02:03 UT and
an M5.1 event at 10/28/04:41 UT). 1875 very rapidly developed
a strong delta configuration located in the large, leading
penumbra late UT yesterday. The delta appears to have
decayed somewhat following the X- and M- events.
Target region NOAA 1882 was the source of 2 M-class
events today. The largest was an M4.4 at 10/28/15:15 UT.
1882 is currently in growth phase adding sunspot area and count
in its trailing portion where a strong delta configuration is located.
The Major Flare Watch will continue today with 1882 as its target
region. Both 1882 and 1875 have the potential to produce a
major flare =/>M5 with a chance of an X-class event as well in the
next 24 hours.

Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar activity is at a moderate level. NOAA regions 11875 and 11882
continue to be the most magnetically complex regions on the visible
solar disk, both showing a beta-gamma-delta magnetic classification.
NOAA 11875 has maintained area and number of spots and continues to
produce C-class flares. NOAA 11882 has grown in area and number of
spots, but has decreased in flare productivity over the previous 24
hours (despite containing the strongest delta spot). At this stage
we are ceasing the MM#018 Great Flare Watch to reinstate the MM#003
Major Flare Watch on NOAA 11882 for at least the next 24 hours, as
this region retains the potential for a >M5 flare.

The level of solar activity is high. NOAA 11882 remains the most active
region on disk. This region is now sufficiently on disk for a reliable
magnetic classification and is designated as a beta-gamma-delta/D-type
sunspot group. NOAA 11882 has grown in area and number of spots in the
previous 24 hours, with the delta consisting of the primary leading and
primary trailing spots. This region continues to produce significant
flare activity (6 M-class events since yesterday's message). The MM#018
Great Flare Watch will remain in effect for the next 24 hours, as 11882
retains the potential for a >X1 flare.

Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
Solar activity is at a high level. NOAA region 11882 has recently rotated
onto the visible disk over the South East limb, but has already produced
2 X-class flares in the past 7 hours (an X1.7 and an X2.1 on 25-Oct-2013
at 07:53 UT and 14:51 UT, respectively). This region is classified as a
beta/D-type sunspot group by NOAA, but its proximity to the limb limits
the accuracy of a magnetic designation. At this time we are initiating a
MM#018 Great Flare Watch, due to NOAA 11882 having produced multiple >X1
flares. Further M-class activity is likely in the next 24 hours, with a
chance for an additional >X1 flare.

Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
The level of solar activity is high. The previous MM#003 Major Flare
Watch (MFW) was called in response to an M9.3 flare that occurred on
24-Oct-2013 at 00:21 UT. At the MFW issue time the originating region
was miss-assigned as NOAA 11875, due to that region showing the decay
of an M3.1 flare in near-realtime imaging. The M9.3 flare originated
from NOAA 11877, to which the MFW target changes now. NOAA 11877 is
classified as a beta-gamma-delta/E-type sunspot group, but may be in
the process of losing its delta spot. The MFW will remain in effect
for the following 24 hours, due to 11877 having produced a >M5 flare.

The current activity level is high. The target region (NOAA 11875) has just
released a ~M9 flare on 24-Oct-2013 at 00:30 UT. Because of this
significant flare, and region's beta-gamma-delta magnetic classification, a
major flare watch is now enacted. Further M-class activity is likely, with
a good chance for a major flare (>M5).
