Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has dropped to a moderate level since the last message. The largest event in the period was an M3.1 flare at 01:29 UT today, produced by the target region NOAA 13947 (N11E24). This region retains a beta-gamma-delta configuration but is diminishing in the sunspot area and number of spots. 13947 also produced two additional low M-class flares and over ten C-class flares in the period. Today the Major Flare Watch shall remain with 13947 for a further 24 hours, due to its activity history and magnetic complexity. Further low-M activity is expected, with a chance for major flares (>M5) in the coming days.
The position of NOAA 13947 on 6-Jan-2025 at 08:30 UT is:
N11E24 (-391",242")
