Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been at an intermediate level since the last message. The largest event in the period was a C7.1 flare at 15:27 UT yesterday from NOAA 13538 (N21W35), which also produced another over ten C-class flares in the period but now appears to be decaying, reducing in both area and sunspot number. The target region 13536 continues to retain its beta-gamma magnetic configuration and has grown in both area and number of sunspots in the period, being the source of several low-to-mid C-class flares. NOAA 13536 shall remain as the target region due to the magnetic complexity of it and the nearby region NOAA 13539 (N11E07, beta-gamma/D-type). More C-class flares are expected over the next 24 hours, with a slight chance for an isolated low M-class flare.
The position of NOAA 13536 on 7-Jan-2024 at 12:30 UT is:
N05W12, (202",146")
