Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
The Major Flare Watch region NOAA 12673 produced an X9.3 flare at 11:53 UT on September 6, which was associated with an Earth-directed CME. This X-ray event is the largest one in this solar cycle (as of now; also the largest one since 2005). 12673 also produced three low M-class events. It has been classified as a complex E-type/beta-gamma-delta configuration with still increasing sunspot area (960 uh now). We will continue the Major Flare Watch as the region still has the potential to produce additional
M5 flares in the next few days.
The position of NOAA 12673 on September 7 at 07:30 UT is:
S09W49 (711", -226")
