Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity continues at a moderate level. The largest event since the last message was an M2.8 flare at 03:21 UT today produced by NOAA 13612 (N22W87) with an Alpha/A-type configuration. 13612 also produced three ~C5 flares and is now rotating beyond the west limb. Note that the northeast limb region mentioned in the two previous messages has been numbered as NOAA 13614 (N16E63) having an Alpha/H-type sunspot group. 13614 produced an M1.0 flare at 04:06 UT today (plus a C3.1 flare yesterday). The target region near the southeast limb (unnumbered yet) generated nine C-class flares, the largest one being a C5.0. Today we continue to watch this region which has some sunspots emerging. Further C-class activities are expected with a good chance of low M-class flares from the target region as well as NOAA 13614 in the next 24-48 hours.
The approximate position of the target on March 18 at 12:30 UT is:
