Dear RHESSI Collaborators,
The current level of solar activity is moderate. Yesterday's target (NOAA 11974) was responsible for 4 M-class events, since the previous message (the largest was a M2.3 flare on 14-Feb-2014 at 02:57 UT). While the main mixed polarity spot has weakened, new flux has emerged over the previous 24 hours, yielding a total sunspot area of >700 micro- hemispheres. For instruments with limited FOVs, the main flare locations within the region appear to be distributed between the main following spot and the large newly emerged leading spot to the North. As significant flare activity has continued within NOAA 11974, the Major Flare Watch will continue for at least the following 24 hours. Further M-class activity is expected with a chance for a high M-class event.
The position of NOAA 11974 on 14-Feb-2014 at 18:00 UT is: S07W35, ( 555", -24" )
