Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has been high since the last message. The target region, NOAA 13878 produced 3 major flares in a row (M4.6 at 21:03 UT, X2.2 at 21:12 UT and M9.5 at 21:45 UT) yesterday(10/31) and additional 2 low-M class flares (M1.3 at 2:05 UT and M2.0 at 14:18 UT) today. NOAA 13876 approaching the Western limb was another source of flare activity with 4 low-M class events.
In the next 24 hours, we continue to observe NOAA 13878 as the target of the Major Flare Watch campaign. The positive magnetic component in the negative trailing spot has shifted to the Southwest side and appears to be splitting into a separate spot. We will observe this area of delta configuration for the next 24 hours. Additional M class flares or larger are expected.
The position of the target in NOAA 13878 on 1-November-2024 at 15:30 UT is: N15E18 (-292", 190").
