Dear Collaborators,
Solar activity has increased since the last message. NOAA 13842 produced an X2.2 flare at 19:02 UT yesterday. An X1.0 flare was also produced at 19:50 UT yesterday and attributed to NOAA 13844, which is in close proximity to NOAA 13842. NOAA 13842 is now situated on the southwest limb. NOAA 13842 will remain the target region until it passes fully beyond the disk. However, attention should also be paid to NOAA 13848 - a beta-gamma-delta region with a sunspot area of 770 μh. The Major Flare Watch will remain active. Further C- and M-class activity is expected, with a chance for further (potentially partially occulted) >M5 flares in the next 24-48 hours.
The position of NOAA 13842 on 8-October-2024 at 11:30 UT is:
S15W70, (872",-282")
